Shimano presents new DEORE XT Trekking components
NUNSPEET, The Netherlands, 14. April 2011

Shimano offers a completely new DEORE XT group, including a wide range of dedicated Trekking components. These 10-speed components excel in quality, performance and design. Besides the Trekking-specific drive-train, the XT offers disc brakes and V-Brakes, sports hub dynamos and a completely new pedal model developed for this important target group. The products will be available in black and in silver.

The HOLLOWTECH II crankset will be available in two models: FC-T781 (48-36-26T and 44-32-24T: chain case compatible) and FC-T780 (48-36-26T: not chain case compatible). Both models feature an integrated chain guard.
The XT rear derailleurs for trekking usage have been developed with a double servo-construction that improves adjustability and resists weather and contamination. The derailleur always keeps close to the cassette sprockets, allowing smooth and effortless gear changing. DEORE XT cassette options 11-32T and 11-34T can be used in combination with the new HG-X directional 10-speed chain CN-HG94.

DEORE XT offers V-Brakes as well as SERVO WAVE disc brakes with ergonomic 3-finger levers especially for trekking usage. Choice in between metal and resin pads. Ice Technologies rotors in 160mm and 180mm with a three layer sandwich structure of an aluminum core embedded in stainless steel. The higher heat dissipation of the aluminum helps to reduce the surface temperature of the rotor which prevents fading. Besides Center Lock, also 6 bolt Ice-Tech rotors in 160 and 180mm are available.

The new component group includes two new 6V-3.0W hub dynamos. DH-T785 is a disc brake version with Center Lock rotor mount and DH-T780 a V-Brake version. Both hub dynamos feature a lightweight design (483g) by using an aluminum coil and axle.

Last but not least, Shimano introduces a new XT pedal PD-T780 dedicated to trekking usage. This model features an SPD binding on one side and a flat platform on the other side. This pedal has been developed with an integrated reflector. Weight: 392 g/pair.
